The iES Landau, Institute for Environmental Sciences in Landau, conducts basic and application-oriented research, which focuses on the diverse and complex interactions between humans and the environment. The institute combines the expertise of nine working groups and thus current research from the molecule to ecosystems to human society. The loss of biodiversity, global change caused by humans, and the increasing emission of pollutants are among the most pressing problems of our time. The study of these processes and their impact on ecosystem functions require a high degree of interdisciplinarity and are central research topics at the Institute for Environmental Sciences in Landau. 

Hosting Lab selection motivation within OHD

The lab selection for the STSM is based on several reasons. Firstly, the lab has extensive experience in conducting ecotoxicological tests, and the opportunity to learn their techniques would greatly benefit the development of my career and the working group in which I am currently during my PhD. Additionally, the lab is led by Prof. Mirco Bundschuh, who is a member of Cost Action, making it an excellent opportunity for the applicant to gain valuable insights and knowledge from an established expert in the field. By conducting experiments in this lab, the researcher can test their compounds in a highly specialized and well-equipped facility. Overall, the combination of expertise, access to advanced equipment, and the opportunity to learn from a renowned expert makes this lab an excellent choice for the researcher’s STSM.
