Second Day: Friday 16th May 2025 from 09:00 to 18:00)
We are thrilled to announce the 3rd Workshop with the thematic "Surveillance, prevention and therapies against parasitic diseases in humans and animals"; which will be organized by the SECID – Southeast European Centre for Surveillance and Control of Infectious Diseases, Institute of Public Health and the COST Action CA21111 – One Health drugs against parasitic vector borne diseases in Europe and beyond (OneHealthDrugs), during 15-16 May 2025 in the Hilton Garden Inn Tirana, Bulevardi Gjergj Fishta, No. 146, 1001, Tirana, Albania.
Workshop Focus:
This workshop will address the latest advancements in the development and application of drugs for parasitic vector-borne diseases. With a focus on a One Health approach, we aim to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among scientists, researchers, experts, and stakeholders. Topics will include:
- Novel drug development and production
- Surveillance and control strategies
- Innovative therapies for human and animal health
Vigilant surveillance systems are crucial to map the distribution and prevalence of parasitic threats across populations. Early detection through diagnostics enables timely intervention, limiting disease spread and individual suffering. Preventive measures, including vector control and improved sanitation, form the first line of defense against infection.Vaccination, where available, offers a powerful tool to build immunity and reduce disease burden in both humans and livestock. Antiparasitic drugs remain a cornerstone of treatment, targeting specific pathogens to eliminate infections. However, the emergence of drug resistance necessitates ongoing research and development of novel therapies. Integrated One Health approaches recognize the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health in combating these diseases. In OneHealthdrugs we think that sustainable strategies prioritize environmental safety and minimize the ecological impact of interventions and therapeutics. Innovative tools, such as AI-driven diagnostics and novel drug delivery systems, hold promise for the future. Ultimately, a coordinated global effort is essential to effectively control and eliminate parasitic diseases affecting both human and animal well-being. The workshop represents an opportunity to discuss these concepts.
